Basic:  All passengers (ages 5-61 years old) pay Basic fare unless eligible for Discount fare.

Discount: Requires certain forms of identification (ID) or age verification as follows:

a) Seniors (age 62 - 74)e-tran Senior/Persons With Disabilities Discount Card, RT Senior photo ID card, Medicare card, State of California ID card, Senior ID card issued by another transit agency, or a passport showing date of birth.

b) Persons with Disabilities (with physical and/or mental impairments) - e-tran Senior/Persons With Disabilities Discount Card, RT Disabled photo ID card, Dept. of Motor Vehicles Disabled Placard ID card, Medicare Card or Disabled ID card issued by another transit agency. Attendants of persons with disabilities may ride for Discount fare with a passenger who has a RT Disabled card or any ID listed above.

c) Students (age 5 - 18) - Must be pursuing a high school diploma; eligible to purchase e-tran monthly student pass, Discount daily pass or Discount 10-Ride pass with a valid school photo ID card or RT Student photo ID card. Students are eligible to purchase single fares and daily passes with their valid school photo ID card or RT student photo ID card.

d) Route Deviations – On Routes 160, 161, 162 and 163 for seniors (age 62 and older), persons with disabilities and e-van Eligibility Card holders can pay 50 cents for a ¾ of a mile deviation. Lifetime pass holders can receive free deviations.

Free Fares:

Children under age 5 - Up to two children ride free when accompanied by an adult paying passenger. Student fares apply for additional children.

e-tran Lifetime Pass Holder (age 75+) – May have unlimited free rides on e-tran. Contact e-tran Customer Service Center at (916) 683-8726 to receive an application for this pass.

RT Lifetime Pass Holders (age 75+) - May have unlimited free rides on e-tran or RT buses and light rail (not valid on Yolobus). RT Lifetime Passes are available only at RT's Photo Identification Center.

Group Passes - Passengers with a Class Pass, Visitor Pass, e-van Eligibility Card, Paratransit ADA Group Pass, Los Rios Community College District student access card, CSU Sacramento One Card, South Natomas TMA Group Pass, County of Sacramento employee pass, Sacramento Bee employee pass, Department of Human Assistance pass, City of Elk Grove employee or dependent ID card or RT employee or dependant ID card may ride free provided that the card and sticker is current.

Transfers:

RT Transfer are issued and accepted by: RT Bus and Light Rail, Yolobus, Yuba/Sutter Transit, Roseville Transit, El Dorado Transit, ARTS, SCT/LINK and e-tran.

e-tran Transfers - Issued only when boarding buses and are FREE. Transfers are valid for 120 minutes and may only be used once. They must be surrendered to the bus operator upon boarding another e-tran bus or the end of the time limit.

e-tran accepts RT, SCT/LINK, Fairfield/Suisun Transit System, Capitol Corridor and Amtrak California transfers for base fare. Fairfield/Suisun Transit System and SCT/LINK accepts e-tran transfers at shared stops. e-tran transfers are not valid on RT, Yolobus, Yuba/Sutter Transit, El Dorado Transit, ARTS, or Roseville Transit.

RT Transfers - Cost 25 cents and are valid for 120 minutes on RT (which includes: SCT/LINK, ARTS, Yolobus, El Dorado Transit, Yuba/Sutter Transit, Roseville Transit) bus routes and RT Light Rail that meet e-tran buses. Unexpired bus transfers serve as proof of fare payment on light rail. Validated light rail tickets may be used as a transfer to e-tran buses and also must be surrendered to the bus operator.

e-tran accepts the RT transfer as base fare for one trip into the e-tran service area.

Fare Payment:

Cash Fares - Exact change is required since bus operators do not carry or give change.

RT Tickets - Single Fare Tickets - Accepted on e-tran buses and RT bus and light rail services. Valid for 120 minutes from time of validation. Tickets must be validated (date and time stamped) by the fare vending machine before boarding light rail.

Passes:

Monthly Passes - Valid for unlimited rides on e-tran for the month shown, and through the first business day of the following month. Passes are available for sale starting the 20th of each month through the 10th of the following month. Please obtain a transfer, if transferring to RT, since RT does not accept the e-tran monthly pass.

Daily Passes - Valid for unlimited rides e-tran until 1.a.m. the day after purchase or validation. Please obtain a transfer, if transferring to RT, since RT does not accept the e-tran daily pass.

10-Ride Passes – Valid for 10 trips on any e-tran route, with no expiration date. 10-Ride Passes are available for purchase any time. Please obtain a transfer, if transferring to RT, since RT does not accept the e-tran 10-Ride pass.

RT Prepaid Single Ride Tickets and Daily Passes - Must be surrendered to bus operator. For prepaid daily pass users, passenger will receive a stamped RT daily pass valid for the day redeemed. e-tran does not accept RT Central City tickets or passes.

e-tran and RT Passes and Ticket Books:

e-tran accepts all RT tickets and passes. e-tran passes along with RT passes and tickets can be purchased at the following locations within Elk Grove and Sacramento - e-tran 10-ride passes are only available through the mail, online or at Elk Grove City Hall.
